Ever looked at somebody else’s life and envied the way they live or the things they have? Ever thought maybe life would be easier if i were like them, because they’re; smaller or thinner, or whatever quality you deem as desirable? I’ve done it many times before! When we let our insecurities manifest in our minds, we block our own blessings and opportunities, because we cant see the great characteristics we possess; so now i see that, it is that kind of mentality which stops you from loving yourself and the qualities you have. So now when i get that doubt in my mind i look at what i have and try to point out all the positive aspects, ( Okay after i have a mini pity party, order domino’s and listen to Beyonce- Me, Myself and I a few times… don’t judge me i’m working on it!) anyhow, when we feel pessimism creeping upon us, the best way to fight it is with optimism.
An article posted on Forbes in 2012, written by Margie Warrell, highlights the benefits of being optimistic, showing that it’s better for us in all aspects of our lives;
” Research has found that seeing the glass half full not only makes you happier, it makes you healthier and wealthier. A study by Psychologist Susan Segerstrom found that ten years after graduation, law students who were optimistic earned an average of $32,667 more than their glass-half-empty peers“
So yes, being pessimistic can not only effect your mood, but also your output!
Sometimes its true, someone maybe in a better position that you, financially, mentally or health wise, but everything takes time, effort and faith. We might not see the light at the end of the tunnel immediately, but gradually things will get brighter, and the first step is changing how we think about any situation. So if you really are unhappy don’t wallow in self pity (Okay don’t wallow for too long!), lets get up, get out and start making some changes. No good wishing you were somebody else, you are, who you are, so be the best person you can be!
So as the clouds cover the sun and my living room is darkened, i say to myself, i’m feeling good about this post, and hopefully after you read this you are to 🙂 and remember…The cups not half empty. Its half full!
